POSITION SUMMARY
The position has primary responsibility for the financial and information technology aspects of the company. The Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete financial records of the Company and for all financial reporting to management and Clarion Safety. The position manages the Company’s accounting department whose purpose is to provide accurate, timely financial information/analysis/ recommendations in support of decision–making; ensure prompt and accurate fulfillment of the financial obligations of the Company; provide protection of and accounting for the financial resources of the company. The Controller is also primary liaison with Clarion Safety accounting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs the accounting function of the Company to ensure that all financial transactions are complete, accurate and timely. Ensures that financial records and transactions conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and appropriate laws and regulations.
- Represents finance, accounting and IT needs on the Company’s Leadership Team and provides guidance and input to other Team members regarding the financial implications of management decisions.
- Ensures that financial and accounting procedures conform to internal controls and are properly documented.
- Ensures that company practices and procedures conform to Clarion Safety standard practices (SPBs) and internal company practices as documented.
- Directs the preparation of monthly, annual, and other periodic financial reports for the Company and Clarion Safety management. This includes the monthly financial close process and generation of monthly financial statements and departmental expense reporting.
- Directs the annual operating and capital budget process. This includes coordinating the creation and consolidation of departmental budgets and the preparation and submission of the Company budget to Clarion Safety for review and approval.
- Monitors, analyzes, communicates, and makes recommendations to management regarding financial concerns, issues, and trends, including income and profitability, credit, operational trends, profit drivers, pricing and costing, cash flow management, taxation, acquisitions, and alliances.
ADITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate as a member of the Leadership Team. Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues: e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, product development/launch, safety and environment, etc.
- Participates in the Company's strategic planning process and in the periodic review of the plan and its accomplishment.
- Primary financial reporting responsibility to Clarion Safety.
- Other functions and duties as assigned by the President or Leadership Team.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct supervision of all accounting staff.
- Liaison with Clarion Safety Finance.
- Work cross-functionally with internal departments to bring viable solutions for the business.
- Manage multiple projects and/or priorities at once.
- Prioritize, communicate, and achieve goals and tasks to meet personal and business objectives.
- Ensure effective relations by providing coaching and development of team, including performance reviews, rock reviews, personal development discussions, and stay interviews.

Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. CPA preferred.
- Ten years or more of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting required, with five years or more accounting and/or finance management experience.
- Excellent computing skills required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including advanced skills in Excel spreadsheets and charting required. Understanding of ERP systems software required; understanding of Visual ERP system preferred.
- Experience working in an ISO environment preferred.
- Experience working in a job costing environment preferred.
- Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and coach team members.
- Strong organizational and people skills.
- Ability to understand and use data to analyze performance and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently but will maximize resources through teamwork.
- Must be able to adapt to the needs of an ever-changing workforce.
