Role Overview
Nepsis is building out our Accounting and Advisory practice, and we are adding a Controller to our team. The person in this role will build a strong relationship with clients by providing advice and guidance to leaders and their teams to support the client's strategic goals. This role is a fractional Controller role serving a range of clients as both a recurring Controller and leading project-based work for clients across many industries. Depending on the engagement, this person may lead other consultant team members and client teams as well as directly contributing to project deliverables.

Financial Oversight & Reporting
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate. Client and internal company information is highly confidential.
The essential functions of the Controller role will require the employee to be able to communicate verbally with others. The employee will often be required to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer and other office equipment. The employee will occasionally be required to stand, move, reach, and lift up to 10 lbs. The employee may be required to travel and work at the client site.

Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee client accounting operations, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare, review, and approve financial reports using GAAP and other applicable standards.
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard client assets and compliance.
- Develop and prepare management reporting, forecasts, and budgets.
- Train client staff on financial controls, best practices, tools, and reporting standards.
- Set and maintain compliance standards to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
- Support the client in preparing for and guiding them through external audits.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, including building client relationships and managing on-time, high-quality deliverables.
- Act as the primary point of contact for your client for financial matters.
- Evaluate potential and current client financial systems, processes, policies, and controls, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Lead clients through selection, design, and implementation of new policies, software, and other accounting systems.
- Advise the client on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning to align financial objectives with the business strategic goals.
- Be an active leader on the Accounting and Advisory team mentoring staff and identifying and implementing internal initiatives and projects to consistently deliver the best work to the firm's clients.
- Create internal playbooks and tools to support delivery excellence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite software and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, Thompson Reuters CP, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis
- Ability to mentor and influence others
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proven ability to work on multiple engagements and meet competing priorities
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting, Finance, or another closely related field.
- 5 or more years of experience in accounting or financial management.
- 2 or more years of experience as a Controller or in a similar level finance role.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis
- CPA, CMA, or other closely related certification or licensure.
- Experience working in a consulting or fractional role supporting multiple clients.
