Job Purpose:
The Sales Consultant is responsible for meeting the sales targets for their portfolio. The Sales Consultant devises strategies and techniques necessary for achieving the sales targets. This individual must be able to map potential customers and generate leads on their own. This individual must be self-motivated and a good self-starter that is focused on exceeding expectations daily.
Overview of Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Actively seek customer interfaces.
- Quick implementation of practices/processes needed to meet customer expectations quickly
- Builds rapport with customers, including all levels of management, maintenance, and leasing
- Provides requested information to customer in a timely manner
- Resolves complaints and warranty issues within 24 hour time period; forward details to EVP and President
Sales
- Must be able to sell, service, and solve
- Must be focused on business growth and customer retention at all times
- Demonstrates success in “cold calling” through referrals and non-referral contacts
- Develops business plan through analysis of existing accounts, referrals and research
- Creates unique and innovative strategies to secure new properties and management companies
- Ability to calculate flooring material needs for each project
- Gain a clear understanding of customers’ business and requirements
- Attend trade exhibitions and trade shows to demonstrate service of company
- Entertain current customers to build loyalty and gain referrals and recommendations
- Establishes contacts through association involvement and vendor relationships
- Negotiating variations in price based on competitor information
- Gather and communicate findings of competitor pricing to EVP to remain competitive at all times
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of product information
- Completes reports (Weekly Activity Reports or WAR) on weekly basis to ensure visit frequency and customer satisfaction
People
- Promotes a positive work environment.
- Continuously works to improve internal relationships with fellow team members, manufacturer’s representatives, and vendors
- Collaborates with office manager and installation manager on concerns and issues that may affect the sales and revenue stream of the branch
Operations
- Responsible for accurate and precise estimates for flooring
- Creates and maintains proposals and information in accordance to policies/procedures
- Monitors quality standards with random inspections of installations
- Work closely with customer to know problems and correct them early in installation process
- Work closely with manufacturers to assure conformance to specifications and installation guidelines
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures related to operations and sales.
- Assist credit manager with credit concerns and overall collections.
- Assist office manager and installation manager with concerns relating to the sales team and work swiftly to correct internal concerns
Communication
- Responsible to create a productive department through written and verbal communication
- All correspondence must be in a professional manner
- All calls and emails from customers must be addressed or returned within one hour
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Scheduling:
- Employee will be required to work at least 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday is the work schedule; however, employee will be included on the Saturday rotation for installation management.
- Employee will be required to attend all mandatory meetings and events as communicated by immediate supervisor.
- Employee will be required to attend apartment association functions as dictated and planned by immediate supervisor.
Physical:
- Ability to work on multiple tasks
- Pleasant and clearly understandable phone voice
- Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs.
- Ability to operate computer and other equipment in office
- Ability to sit at a desk for more than an hour at a time
- Ability to bend and stoop in order to file or shelve
- Must have sufficient mobility to move around office and warehouse
- Must be able to move about to visit customers routinely
- Ability to drive in vehicle for long periods of time and make numerous stops
- Ability to work indoors and outside in varying temperatures
