McMillan Rifle Stocks is a medium sized business in Phoenix, AZ. We manufacture rifle stocks using a combination of modernized and hand crafting methods to achieve the high quality our customers demand.
We are looking for an entry level to intermediate level CNC Operator to learn our process to inlet our synthetic rifle stocks. Attention to detail and ability to follow directions are key, as McMillan has a legendary reputation for having the best fitting inlets in the industry.
The CNC Operator sets up a CNC machine then insures it runs properly, troubleshooting and programming as needs arise. This position will be trained on the job, so advanced experience is not necessary.
Your job is important because McMillan's reputation for having the best fitting inlets is legendary. You must be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines. An eye for detail and strong mechanical aptitude are essential. The goal is to produce high quality inlets by setting up the machines and making sure they perform the right operations.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Be responsible and comply with all safety guidelines.
- Work alone and alongside others to make the highest quality rifle stocks to our customer’s specifications.
- Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as cutting an action, barrel, and bottom metal inlet for rifles.
- Learn our specifications and program organizational systems.
- Prepare and load rifle stocks into the machines.
- When needed, execute a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Supervise the machines while they cut the inlets and make any necessary adjustments to insure no defects.
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality.
Requirements:
- Willingness to work with your hands in an environment that can get messy!
- Ability to understand and follow a schedule and keep on task and work towards a daily quota.
- Ability to understand and follow simple instructions and process documentation.
- Ability to work with your hands to perform all finishing tasks (including working with an electric sander).
- Ability to work on your feet and freely move around to different areas, as the process requires going between workstations throughout the day.
Skills Desired:
- Training experience as CNC operator is a plus, but not required.
- Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer functions.
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
- A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
- Good communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus.
Shift :
- 40 hours
- Four 10-hour days per week
- Monday through Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Dress code is casual, such as jeans, a t-shirt, and sneakers. For your safety and the safety of others, we do not permit shorts, open toed shoes such as sandals, or any type of loose clothing that could get caught in machinery.
