The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing data and complex analyses that enable the organization to make informed decisions. By effectively leveraging technology, the incumbent conveys findings in an easily digestible format.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Under moderate supervision, prepares comprehensive analyses in a variety of subject areas ranging from basic to intermediate to assess financial viability, opportunity cost, and alignment with long range financial plan. Liaise with stakeholders and effectively translates seemingly disparate data into logical conclusions. Leverages critical thinking to identify and quantify implications of decisions. Work is completed timely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Under moderate supervision, performs thorough analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual variances to budget and includes findings in notes to the financial statements. Presents findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist with ongoing management and optimization of financial tools used for analysis and visualization.
- Under moderate supervision, interactions with internal and external parties receive an initial response within one business day and are resolved in an appropriate amount of time (as defined by complexity of the issue). Communication utilizes a professional tone, is clear and concise.
- Maintains an understanding of financial policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applies them with moderate supervision.
- Support other accounting team functions during periods of high volume, vacancy and/or absence.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field required.
- Five years of experience in finance or accounting roles.
- Demonstrated ability with Excel pivot tables, data extraction, nested IF, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions.
- This role will be required to adhere to the MCNC Substance Abuse policy, which may include drug/alcohol screening at hire and periodically or randomly during employment.
- Experience with NetSuite.
- Active CPA or CMA
