Job Summary

MCNC is seeking a mid-level project manager to manage project life cycles across a diverse range of projects within a newly established corporate project management office. The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and completion of projects. This role involves coordinating tasks and ensuring that project milestones and deliverables are met on time. The desired candidate will have demonstrated experience managing and successfully delivering projects in a non-profit business environment focused on short and long term, day-to-day activities and timeframes. The candidate must be comfortable establishing positive working relationships while delivering project success. This position will work closely with the PMO Department Manager and other team members to ensure seamless project execution throughout the organization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain project plans and project tasks.
  • Define and oversee project plans, scope, schedules, and timelines.
  • Prepare, distribute, and present project agenda and project status and progress reports.
  • Organize and lead project status meetings.
  • Manage changes, risks, actions, and issues and escalate, as appropriate.
  • Leverage other PM resources for project work.
  • Maintain project documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a business-related field.
  • 5 years of progressive Project Management experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, a must.
  • Experience managing or participating in various types of projects using project management software.
  • Proven project management experience (from project inception to project closure) with a strong attention to detail, quality and accuracy of work.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to keep up with industry trends.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative nonprofit environment.
  • Flexible and possesses the ability to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Pre-employment and annual MVR checks will be required during your employment with the company for this position in order to be approved to drive a company-owned vehicle.
  • Background and sex offender checks will be performed for pre-employment and annually during your employment with the company.
  • This role will be required to adhere to the MCNC Substance Abuse policy, which may include drug/alcohol screening at hire and periodically or randomly during employment.

Preferred Qualifications/Specialties

  • Experience working with project management frameworks (i.e. Agile, Kanban, Scrum and/or hybrid-methodologies) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with non-traditional project management approaches.
  • Relevant industry training, experience and/or industry certifications.
