Overview
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the project manager in overseeing and administering multiple electrical construction projects, ensuring their timely completion within budget and scope. The APM will serve as a liaison between the field and office, manage communication, assist in procurement and documentation, and help maintain project schedules and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Project Oversight and Coordination:
- Assist the project manager in day-to-day project oversight, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Collaborate with the project team, subcontractors, vendors, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
- Serve as a liaison between the field and office to facilitate clear communication and resolve any issues.
- Monitor project performance, track job progress, and report discrepancies between actual and budgeted performance (hourly, cost, productivity).
Document and Procurement Management:
- Administer and track procurement logs, submittals, purchase orders, equipment utilization, and delivery to ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Maintain and track project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, contract drawings, and revisions.
- Implement and maintain project document control (both electronic and physical).
- Process and track project communications (emails, letters, notifications) and maintain accurate project files.
Customer and Vendor Relations:
- Promote strong customer, subcontractor, and vendor relationships through professionalism, integrity, and fairness.
- Assist in managing client demands while maintaining positive working relationships.
Quality and Safety:
- Promote and support a quality/safety/productivity (QSP) culture through active participation, image, and awareness.
- Monitor quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
Change Management and Reporting:
- Identify, anticipate, and resolve potential changes to the contract or project scope, preparing necessary documentation and cost estimates for client submissions.
- Support the creation of project monitoring reports, track receivables, billings, costs, commitments, and create comparisons of actual versus budgeted performance.
- Assist in preparing meeting minutes, daily reports, and other project correspondence.
Scheduling and Coordination:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules, including engineering deliverables, material procurement, fabrication, delivery, and construction activities.
- Monitor job progress and productivity against the established schedule, ensuring timely completion.
Closeout and Documentation:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of project closeout documentation packages.
- Maintain up-to-date change order logs, RFI logs, drawings, schedule updates, and QA/QC documentation.
Collaboration and Team Support:
- Participate in preconstruction reviews, design-build activities, and other collaborative efforts with project teams.
- Support the project manager in coordination and troubleshooting for multiple projects
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field or comparable experience though an electrical field foreman role.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience in construction project management or a related field.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to understand and manage project budgets, schedules, and scope.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate project challenges.
- Knowledge of safety and quality control practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in both office and field settings.
- Occasional site visits may require physical stamina to navigate construction sites.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
