McVantage Packaging specializes in manufacturing, repairing, and recycling wooden pallets and crates servicing the Central-Southeastern U.S. from our plants in Tuscumbia, AL and Nashville, TN. Our Tuscumbia operation includes a scragg mill and various production stations for the manufacture and reprocessing of our lumber products and packaging product components. Both the Nashville and Tuscumbia operations are then able to assemble those products into our pallets, crates, and other products.
The Tagger at McVantage Packaging, LLC is responsible for creating and attaching tags to various lumber packages to track inventory through all stages of production. This role requires computer proficiency for inventory management and an understanding of production processes to ensure accurate tagging and tracking. The position plays a critical role in the logistics and quality control of our products, supporting the company's efficiency and accuracy in inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Tracking:
- Monitor inbound and outbound lumber, ensuring all items are accurately logged and tracked.
- Quality Assurance:
- Continuously check production processes to ensure that lumber meets quality and specification requirements.
- Tagging Process Compliance:
- Adhere to McVantage Packaging’s policies and procedures for creating and applying tags, ensuring consistency and traceability.
- Safety Adherence:
- Follow all safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Reporting Issues:
- Communicate any work-related problems to the lead person, supervisor, or Facility Manager promptly.
- Injury Reporting:
- Report all work-related injuries to the lead person, supervisor, Facility Manager, and Human Resources immediately.
- Housekeeping:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the work area, adhering to company housekeeping standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Tag Management:
- What You Do: Create and apply tags to lumber packages using computerized systems.

- Skills Needed: Ability to read and understand specifications, keen observation skills, and understanding of production processes.
- Safety and Communication:
- What You Do: Follow safety protocols and report any issues or injuries to management.
- Why It’s Important: Maintaining safety helps prevent accidents and ensures a smooth operation within the plant.
- Skills Needed: Knowledge of safety regulations, effective communication skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Experience in inventory management or tagging preferred.
- Skills:
- Computer literacy.
- Proficient in simple mathematics and reading measurements.
- Abilities:
- Manual dexterity for handling tags and packages.
- Multilimb coordination.
- Certifications: None required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or sawmill environment.
Competencies:
- Detail Orientation: Ability to focus on the specifics of the tagging and quality control processes.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and application of safety practices relevant to the role.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for long periods, occasionally lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
Work Environment:
- The role is primarily based in the 6-Head / Sawmill department, which can be noisy and dusty. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
