In the past few years Mistwood Golf Club has expanded into a hospitality company. Not only does the company manage a high-end, semi-private golf course, but also three restaurants (McWethy’s Tavern, McWethy’s Sports Bar, The James), two banquet facilities (The Great Hall at Mistwood and the Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station) and a sports dome (Mistwood Golf Dome). While each property is a different concept, they share one important characteristic: each is an exciting place where enthusiastic people come together to create a special experience.

The Kitchen Line Cook at McWethy's Tavern will report directly to McWethy's Tavern management team. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Contributing to the establishment, promotion, and protection of McWethy's Tavern brand.
  • Genuinely caring about people and their experience, displaying a positive attitude toward people.
  • Passionate about cooking and dedicated to delivering high-quality food.
  • Preparing and serving food items according to recipe specifications and food safety/sanitation practices to ensure consistency. This is achieved by following the recipe guidelines.
  • Ensure that all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature, quality, and presentation.
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Practices proper product control and handling of all food inventory and equipment to maximize usage and eliminate as much waste as possible.
  • Thoroughly completes all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities, including daily cleaning duties of the kitchen.
  • Assist with the development of new menu items and features as directed by McWethy's Tavern Executive Chef and management team.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff and McWethy's Tavern Executive Chef to ensure that all food is served in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the ordering and receiving of supplies and ingredients.
  • Perform other duties as outlined by McWethy's Tavern Executive Chef.
  • Always adheres to location appearance guidelines during your shift, while employing good safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
  • Completes steps of service to ensure utmost guest satisfaction, while continually communicating with McWethy's Tavern Executive Chef to ensure operational flow.
  • Understands and can describe menu, ingredients, and presentation, and pricing.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure the best possible guest experience. Ensuring show quality standards are always maintained.
  • Knowledge of cooking methods, techniques, and equipment.
  • Ability to follow recipes and measurements accurately.
  • Helps fellow staff members whenever necessary.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and provides friendly, efficient service to staff members and guests.
  • Assists in the timely delivery of food when needed.
  • Communicates all issues directly to McWethy's Tavern Executive Chef to ensure it is properly taken care of.
  • Thoroughly and accurately uses applicable POS system and technology.
  • Thoroughly completes all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities, and any other tasks directed by McWethy's Tavern management team.
  • Always on time and ready to perform all required duties, with great communication skills.
  • Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities and ensuring that all health and safety regulations are satisfied.
  • Always assisting in marketing of McWethy's Tavern brand to help increase business levels.
  • Ensures that all security, safety, and sanitation standards are achieved.
  • Follows and enforces responsible alcohol service practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Food Handler certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Food Allergen certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Sexual Harassment certification as required by the state of Illinois.
  • Ability to taste and evaluate food and beverage products.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers, guests, and staff members by speaking and comprehending English. Reading, writing, math, and computer skills required.
  • Lifts and transports up to 25lbs.
  • Stamina to work through the hours of a shift or as business dictates.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts, including day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Possible job hazards include, but not limited to, slips, trips, falls, burns, cuts and strains.
  • Must be able to reach, lift, stoop, bend and perform extensive standing and walking (including stairs) throughout the shift.
  • Ability to use hands.
  • Ability to talk and hear to conduct phone correspondence.
  • Acting as a role model for the staff.
