Steward the hospitals limited community benefit resources by implementing the financial assistance policy with fairness and accuracy. Responsibilities: Provide HCH financial assistance application with good explanation of how to complete it. Receive applications and check for completeness. Request additional documents from patients when necessary. Follow up with patient regarding what’s pending. Resolve patient’s billing concerns via the telephone, correspondence, or in-person Investigate problems and complaints, and initiate resolution in a professional and efficient manner. Process credit card payments for various hospital departments and record transactions as indicated by accounting department procedures. Able to interpret clinical data sufficiently to determine eligibility for various programs. Must possess excellent auditing and analytical skills for reconciliation of accounts. Able to interpret, read, and work from computer reports, and spread sheets. What you will need: High school graduate possessing three (3) years experience in accounting and medical claims management, finance/healthcare admin/related field, preferably in a hospital or physician’s office setting OR Associate’s degree in finance/accounting/healthcare admin/related field with 1 year of related experience in accounting and medical claims management, finance/healthcare admin/related field, preferably in a hospital or physician’s office setting OR Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/healthcare admin/related field Must be bilingual English and Spanish. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Thorough understanding of Medicaid, Medicare and other programs that can assist the uninsured in paying for their healthcare services. Interact with the uninsured and acts as a liaison for the hospital. General knowledge of other payer reimbursement. Able to interpret clinical data sufficiently to determine eligibility for various programs. Must possess excellent auditing and analytical skills for reconciliation of accounts. Proficiency with Windows, Word & Excel. General computer skills, including experience with email and the Internet. Familiarity with hospital accounting systems. preferably STAR and Health Quest Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to articulate information in a clear and concise manner. Able to interpret, read, and work from computer reports, and spread sheets. Pay Range: $18.78-$26.29 Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
