About the Opportunity
Meadowhawk Biolabs is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Corporate Controller to work within our hybrid (partial remote) Finance Team at our Marlborough, MA or Hayward, CA location to perform accounting activities in a fast-paced team environment. The ideal candidate is driven, hardworking, willing to learn, dedicated, and passionate about accounting. Given that we are a newly launched Contract Research Organization (CRO) founded by an experienced team of industry veterans, this ground floor position offers unique opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute meaningfully to the creation and development of our finance department, to expand their knowledge base by participation in multidisciplinary teams, and to advance their career in capabilities and responsibilities.
Position Summary:
This position will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities within the company. This includes maintaining accounting records, managing the accounting team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making. This position will report to the VP of Finance and Administration and is site agnostic and will interact with all other departments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Manage the preparation of regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
- Manage fixed asset and lease accounting processes.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Manage the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
- Provide financial analysis and decision support to executive management.
- Implement and improve financial systems, policies, and processes.
- Monitor emerging financial and accounting trends and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Quickbooks, Zoho, or Netsuite is a plus.
- Experience in Biotech or Contract Research Organization is a plus.
