Meals on Wheels (MOW) provides nutritious meals delivered to the homes and congregate sites of seniors in the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Greater Dayton community. The MOW program supports independence while promoting the social, physical, and emotional well-being of seniors. MOW is seeking a Digital Literacy Facilitator to support the Digital Connect program. This position provides one on one onboardings and tech support, as well as, group training sessions on smart devices with older adult participants both in-home and in the community. Sessions focus on smart device literacy including accessing the MOW Virtual Senior Center, internet safety, telehealth, online banking, and more. The Digital Literacy Facilitator understands how to operate and troubleshoot smart devices including but not limited to phones, tablets, laptops and computers, and is able to teach older adults’ basic digital fluency. This is a full-time position. Medical, dental and vision benefits available day one. Ten paid holidays per year and paid time off accrual starts day one.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Conduct digital literacy training to older adult individuals and groups in the home or in a community-based setting, with the purpose of reducing social isolation and loneliness.
TYPICAL WORK CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in the community at-large.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Schedule & Conduct digital literacy training to groups of older adults in a community-based setting.
- Conduct tech support on a variety of smart devices for individual older adults in the home.
- Support program participants’ needs by communicating directly with participants in a timely and professional manner. Refer participants to appropriate Meals on Wheels services, as needed.
- Encourage participation of the MOW Virtual Senior Center with program participants.
- Utilize program measurement tools and collect program data.
- Maintain appropriate records including intake forms and other items required by funders.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s Degree in education technology, gerontology, or related-field preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 1-2 years’ experience working with the older adult population preferred
- Skilled in a variety of devices including smart devices, Word, Outlook, Excel, and video conferencing (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet).
- Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in leading public presentations and/or trainings.
- Desire to create impact and be goal driven.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to teach older adults with energy, patience, and dignity.
- Must have own mode of transportation. Includes mileage reimbursement.
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and alcohol/drug screen.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit, bend, lift, move and sit for extended periods of time during working hours.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Be willing to work the hours necessary to perform tasks to completion.
- Have the ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be in general good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Have the ability to lift, push and pull in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
