Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Meat Trader to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, stay ahead of market trends, and work closely with both customers and suppliers. You will manage a diverse range of meat commodities (beef, pork, chicken, turkey) and collaborate with customers to find creative, strategic solutions that meet their business needs. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, strong relationship management, and the ability to track market conditions to inform buying and selling decisions as you will be purchasing and selling numerous different products on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with customers nationwide, providing exceptional service and fostering strong partnerships.
- Negotiate pricing on both the buy and sell sides of transactions.
- Track market trends and fluctuations to make data-driven trading decisions.
- Consult with customers to offer creative, strategic solutions that align with their needs and business goals.
- Ability to cold call and generate new leads for customers across the country.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and potential partnerships within the meat industry.
- Work within a team environment to help both you and the entire team succeed
- Monitor inventory levels, ensuring timely and cost-effective transactions and deliveries.
- Stay informed on global and domestic market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply-demand dynamics.
- Assist in the collection of payments from customers
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in negotiating and managing pricing in a sales function.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in buying/selling various meat products (beef, pork, chicken, turkey).
- Experience in a meat plant or broader food industry knowledge is a plus.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in the meat industry or related sales/procurement roles.
