MSD is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our team!
We're looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to support our finance team by processing invoices, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely, accurate payments. In this role, you'll handle everything from credit applications and expense reports to lease payments, tax submissions, and garnishments. You'll also help troubleshoot system issues and recommend process improvements.

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the processing and payment of vendor and agency obligations in keeping with MSD accounting policies. The Accounting Specialist supports the total quality effort by identifying and responding to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to comprehend highly technical instructions especially but not limited to: governmental regulations
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Able to multitask efficiently
- 1-3 years’ experience in AP and/or AR preferred
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Accounting highly desired
- High School Diploma or GED or 15 Semester hours college level education
Job Duties:
- Vendor & Invoice Management: Maintain positive vendor relationships, resolve invoice discrepancies, process and code invoices, and ensure accurate system entry and approvals.
- Payment Processing: Manage accounts payable aging reports, schedule and process payments, create check runs, and handle credit card expense reports and lease payments.
- Documentation & Compliance: Prepare vendor credit applications, maintain vendor files, create waivers of lien, and ensure accurate documentation in the GE system.
- Tax & Payroll Deductions: Submit sales and use tax filings, and process child support payments, garnishments, and other court-ordered deductions.
- System & Process Improvement: Troubleshoot GE system issues, identify improvement opportunities, and support compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
