What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Engineer Intern position at MechSpire?
As a Hardware Engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to join a dynamic team developing the next generation of new automation control systems. In this position, you will be part of a team initially challenged with the critical role of validating the functionality and performance of the new hardware and ensuring our products meet all functional, regulatory and safety requirements.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Work on an agile team to develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans with traceability to product requirements, including board level functional testing, EMC/EMI, Safety Agencies (UL, ATEX, IECEX), Functional Safety (IEC 61508), and Environmental
- Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototype
- Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports
- Take ownership of assignments by understanding expected output, requesting help as needed, and helping teammates as needed
- Build relationships with technical leads and peers to grow your knowledge of the product development lifecycle
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Previous co-op/intern experience in Hardware Development and / or Embedded Systems
- Experience using design capture tools, able to read & understand schematics, and have basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
- Hands-on experience with hardware test equipment, including debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Experience developing and/or using programs (assembly, C/C , Python, ladder) for product initialization, debug, or test
- Experience working as part of a team using Agile/Scrum methodologies in a Scaled Agile Framework
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers
- Experience performing product certification testing, such as testing to meet CE and IEC 61010
