Mechanical BIM Designer

Primary Purpose

To work as a full-time Mechanical BIM Designer with a thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and experience in a broad spectrum of building types. The ideal candidate will have experience with building-related projects, including commercial buildings, schools, industrial facilities, etc. and capable of performing all BIM aspects of the project beginning to end. Location for position can be in any of our offices which are located in Greensboro, NC, Raleigh, NC, and our main office in Morehead City, NC.

Summary of Duties

The Mechanical BIM Designer reports to the Vice President and is responsible for producing mechanical BIM drawings. Passion for customer service, initiative, phone skills, tact and integrity are essential to this position. Job related contact can occur with all demographic groups with the majority of daily contacts being with Mechworks employees and both current and prospective customers.

Typical Duties

· Responsible for producing BIM construction documents.

· Responsible for adhering to Mechworks templates and drafting standards.

· Responsible for producing BIM shop drawings for Plan/Spec projects.

· Responsible for Value Engineering of Plan/Spec projects.

· Responsible for designing projects within established budgets and project durations.

· Perform coordination with other trades on all projects.

· Responsible for meeting with Project Managers and Clients to review designs and verify project scope of work.

· Responsible for meeting with Foremen to verify constructability of projects.

· May be responsible for oversight of production team on certain projects.

Requirements

· BS in Mechanical Engineering.

· EIT required and on track to become a PE is a plus.

· 3-5 years’ experience in the design of HVAC and Mechanical Systems for various types of facilities including commercial buildings, schools, hospital facilities, etc.

· Must be proficient in producing Mechanical design drawings in AutoCAD software for review and permitting by City and County Code officials.

· Strong AutoCAD experience.

· Revit experience is a plus.

· Microsoft Office.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· High attention to detail and accuracy.

· Understanding of Plumbing design is a plus but not mandatory.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
