Paid Summer Internship (10 weeks)
Hourly Pay: $20.00, 19 hours/week
Perform work related to college studies and career goals; complete assigned duties under the direction of a Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office professional staff member to gain career-oriented knowledge and experience.
Overview
The purpose of this internship is to provide interns with a comprehensive look at the various areas within the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The interns will be assigned to different departments, including recruiting, community engagement, human resources, and more. No week will look the same in this dynamic and immersive internship.

Interns will experience a fluctuating work environment, ranging from an office setting with moderate noise to outdoor settings.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within 12 months of graduation) at an accredited university in a field of study directly related to the area of assignment.

- Assist in designated areas across divisions.
- Assist in various outreach initiatives throughout Mecklenburg County.
- Participate in ride-a longs to gain firsthand experience of the Deputy Sheriff field duties.
- Answer phones and manage administrative tasks in varies areas.
- Filing paperwork, scanning files, and maintaining file room records.
- Support administrative operations in the detention facility.
- Assist with Recruiting and Human Resources in various assignments and tasks.
- Observation of the court system and the judicial process.
