Position Summary

Responsible for the daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department with the coordinated supervision of the Director of Patient Care Services. Responsible for promoting and maintaining quantity and quality respiratory therapy services through effective management of the activities in the Respiratory Therapy Department. Assumes the responsibility and authority for management decisions of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Work Experience
-
Two years of experience as a staff therapist with critical care background required.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Education-
Graduate of a Respiratory Care program required.

Certifications/Licensure-
Certified by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care – Mandatory Certification (Active) required.

Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required.

Job Specific Performance Standards

Performs duties of a Registered Respiratory Therapist including all Respiratory Care services and EKGs. Maintains communication with the Medical Director on all operations and needs of the department.
- Prepares and submits reports, as requested, to include the monthly productivity and budget reports.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all departmental forms, flow charts, log books and their proper usage.
- Develops and maintains a policy and procedure manual for the department.
- Inspects and tests departmental equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and efficiently. Monitors preventative maintenance schedules and keeps appropriate departmental records on all equipment as required by JCAHO/CLIA standards.
