FLEET MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
We are seeking a skilled Fleet Technician who can work autonomously and with a team to perform major and non-routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks. Maintains building equipment in a neat and organized manner. Oversee and/or work with outside vendors to complete projects. Responsible for planning, coordinating and communicating project plans to the Director of Logistics and Lead Maintenance Coordinator. Provides input into the maintenance budget and ensures expenses are managed accordingly. We would like applicants to be familiar with Operative IQ but if you are not, we will teach you. Maintenance Duties
- Performs major overhauls of engines and repairs most difficult and complex equipment problems (e.g., pistons, crank shafts, medium/heavy duty automatic transmissions).
- Diagnose electronic engine control systems (e.g., engine control modules, anti-lock brake systems, medium/heavy duty automatic transmission engine control modules).
- Troubleshoot and repair/replace engine electronic sensors.
- Repair, rebuild and/or replaces minor & major parts (e.g., alternators, water or fuel pumps, brake systems).
- Coordinates statewide fleet operations and service program.
- Coordinates or completes emergency / unscheduled repairs.
- Maintains 24-hour on call readiness per the Notification Matrix.
- Diagnosis and repair vehicles mechanical problems as they occur. Document all vehicle repairs on TMT Program.
- Prioritize all vehicle repairs based on operational needs and length of repair time needed (i.e.: minor repairs that should be done first if it will allow a vehicle to be placed back in service.)
- Be able to work in weather common with our area (i.e.: road service, repairs on the road) using the mobile repair unit and the field service unit.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must have movable toolbox and hand tools commensurate with stated knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
- Maintains solid technical knowledge of all MedCare vehicles. This includes engines, electrical control systems, and the retrofitting that is needed for these vehicles.
Requirements
Qualifications for the Fleet Maintenance Technician Position
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
- Additional fleet maintenance related education preferred.
- Two (2) years’ experience in fleet maintenance preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work in an unstructured, non-routine environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to negotiate effectively.
- Ability to lift 20 – 30 lbs.
- Must be able to respond or coordinate 24/7 to maintenance issues that require immediate attention.
- Must Maintain Emergency Vehicle Operators Course Certification
