MAXlive produces and presents groundbreaking live & immersive arts that harness & interrogate the scientific advances of our times. 


JOB DESCRIPTION: 

MAXlive is seeking a Development and Strategic Partnerships Manager. The ideal candidate is an agile thinker with significant, demonstrated background in fundraising—both high-level strategy and day-to-day operations—for non profits, and ideally in organizations that focus on the performing arts, science, or technology. The Development and Strategic Partnerships Manager will create a robust new fundraising strategy for MAXlive to diversify income sources and increase annual contributed income totals. Our goal is to adjust the model of non-profit sustainability with a combination of fundraising strategies and revenue streams. This individual will be a creative thinker who connects the dots between the funding and development of MAXlive and the future of the performing arts. This is an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career arts administrator who is looking for an opportunity to take on a leadership position and have more ownership over organizational growth.


Position Report to: Artistic Director

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: $45 - $55 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement a development strategy for the growth of MAXlive: Identify funds needed, targets, and approaches. Set ambitious fundraising goals and define the pathways to achieve them
  • Leading institutional and foundation fundraising efforts, including grant research and writing, maintaining a grants calendar, compiling reports, and preparing organizational documents for foundation submission 
  • Diversify income: Research, devise, and activate new revenue streams
  • Manage institutional giving: Maintain and build relationships with institutional funders
  • Manage grant applications and reporting.
  • Review and manage institutional budgets and ensure MAXlive is prepared to meet fundraising goals.
  • Planning and executing cultivation and fundraising events
  • Strengthen relationships with individual donors
  • Scout and cultivate new individual donors
  • End of year fundraising including appeals 
  • Managing the current grant portfolio and expanding foundation, institutional and corporate support.
  • Liaising with Board regarding their fundraising goals, events and sub-committees
  • Managing fundraising committee
  • Collaborating with Marketing Associate on monthly newsletter and Membership Program


EXPERIENCE:

  • BA (required), MA (a plus)
  • 4 years of fundraising experience, ideally in arts or science-focused non profits
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing fundraising strategy
  • Budget management experience
  • The ability to serve as a strategic thinker, capable of providing positive and proactive solutions to challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit; a scrappy and bold personality
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, communication, and relationship building skills
  • Particular interest and knowledge in performing arts and media arts.
