- Responsible for a broad range of communication initiatives for the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC.
- Research, strategize, integrate, and execute communication strategies, plans, and message management processes.
- Develop and implement communication plans for utilization across a variety of platforms.
- Write and edit communication products.
- Coordinate and integrate communication approaches and products across multiple communication disciplines and platforms.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities/relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
- Works under general supervision; typically reports to a team lead or supervisor.
- Generate routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers.
- Directly interfacing with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers, as needed
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
- Proficient in oral and written communications, including writing and editing.
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Must be able to write to a range of audiences and creatively explain complex technical ideas in an approachable, compelling way.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with AP style is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
