Position Summary
MediaJustice is seeking our first Sr. Grants & Partnership Manager to lead the efforts to diversify the organization’s base of support by elevating the funds received from institutional funders year over year.
Working with the Director of Development, the Sr. Grants & Partnerships Manager will be responsible for managing philanthropic relationships with foundations and community partners, as well as increasing our support. This position will be responsible for using a data-driven approach to effectively stewarding institutional donors and submitting letters of intent and grants for additional funding.
The Sr. Grants and Partnerships Manager collaborates with the MediaJustice staff to ensure coordination and consistency in planning and executing them to meet revenue targets. They work with finance to ensure grant monitoring and reporting is done in a proactive way. This mission-driven individual understands MediaJustice’s programmatic priorities and effectively conveys the message while connecting with constituents and the community. The Grants & Partnership Manager is part of a 3 person Development Team and reports directly to the Director of Development.

Salary & Benefits/ Compensation Philosophy
MediaJustice practices a negotiation-free compensation policy and has set salaries based on the level in the organization and years of experience, with salaries benchmarked to be in the top 25% for the three most expensive U.S. cities. The salary level for this role is that of a Senior Specialist, and the range is $95,487.00-$110,884.00 annually (at 100%FTE), based on the experience tier you land in.

Essential Responsibilities
- Lead growth of our institutional funding in a way that is aligned with our strategic vision, priorities and gaps in funding needs. This includes building a robust institutional funding pipeline, developing and implementing tailored donor engagement strategies, managing an annual portfolio of funders within a Moves Management system, and providing exceptional donor stewardship through calls, impact reports, and other activities to foster vital long-term partnerships
- Lead all grant and foundation management activities, including RFP / LOI submissions, proposal development, deadline management, monitoring, reporting requirements, and communication plans
- Collaborate with internal leadership and staff on key donor engagement strategies when needed, ensuring a cohesive approach by developing discovery and briefing meeting materials, crafting speaking points, and leading follow-up efforts
- Create, manage, and improve grant-related processes and tools, including our Salesforce database and reporting, working with the Finance team on processes for the full grant-cycle, and ensuring our information ecosystem is organized and easy to navigate
- Ensure that the grant revenue at MediaJustice is understood to be a collaborative effort with the programs team, centering our work and our strategy. This includes leading communication with the program teams and being proactive about understanding their needs
Must Haves
The skills and qualities we are not compromising on:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in relevant aspects of fundraising
- Demonstrated success securing major institutional gifts through grant writing and foundation engagement
- Experience creating processes to streamline grants management
- Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively across non-finance, programmatic roles
- Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to develop highly compelling and persuasive fundraising materials
- Proficiency with GSuites, and working with a donor CRM
- Ability to maintain the highest level of discretion with respect to confidential information
- Entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving with a diverse set of people, including risk assessment and management

- A bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience in a similar role in a movement organization
- Experience managing staff, contractors and consultants
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Experience using, and managing, Salesforce for Moves Management
- Experience working in a remote environment
