Medical Billing and Coding Instructor

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our academic allied health team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring graduating students can accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures; can accurately utilize the ICD-10-CM, CPT, ICD-10-PCS following coding conventions, as well as maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires proficiency in medical terminology, coding systems, and documentation review to facilitate efficient billing processes.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code medical diagnoses and procedures.
• Knowledgeable about coding systems.
• Review student reports and clinical documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy for proper billing.
• Educate enrolled students on coding best practices and documentation requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and industry changes.
• Assist in lesson planning and classroom instruction.
• Utilize an electronic health record system such as SimCharts for coding and documentation purposes in the classroom.

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a clinical setting.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough documentation reviews to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
• Experience in educating others on medical coding practices is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $25.04 - $26.46 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 30 per week

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
