Job Summary
Performs activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials, and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment
Essential Functions
- Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Ensures equipment is in good working order. Understand mechanics of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor. Understands safety hazards common to the laboratory.
- Logs lab procedures completed. Processes related paperwork.
- Assists laboratory staff in routine tests used in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
- Operates a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation, prepares accurate reports such as Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
- Utilizes computer system for data storage and retrieval.
- Maintains a clean, safe and well-stocked work area including records, supplies and equipment.
- Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
- Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.
- Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements.
- Follows company policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. Utilizes universal precautions in handling infectious material.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or GED required
- Less than 2 years Lab preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Continuing education of new technologies.
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong organization & communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Superior ability to perform laboratory testing.
- Ability to handle high volumes of work without error.
- Knowledge of laboratory and quality control procedures.
Licenses and Certifications
- AHA or ARC BLS Certification due within 30 days of employment required
- Phlebotomy Certification
