Position Summary:
The SP (Special Procedures) Assistant enhances patient focused care by assisting the nursing and technologist staff with direct and indirect patient care activities. The SP Assistant receives functional direction and guidance from nursing and technical staff.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
B. Training and Experience:
1. Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire or transfer to department.
2. Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer from another department.
· Patient transfers
· Patient transport
· Aseptic technique
· Lab specimens/order entry
· Unit safety
· Body substance isolation
· Role in Code Blue
· Proper Special Procedures attire
· Procedural suite turnover
· Assist with case preparation
C. Job Knowledge:
Customer service skills, telephone, pager, transport equipment,
computer PPE, etc.
