Role Summary
This is a Night shift position that plays a critical role in staff development and education. The Respiratory Therapy Education Specialist coordinates and/or performs staff development functions, including department specific needs assessment, goal setting, implementation methods, evaluation measures, and instruction of education activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides education support for staff, emphasizing assigned service line development.
- Interprets guidelines for continuing respiratory education based upon professional practice guidelines.
- Collaborates with Education to identify needs and plan education activities for professional growth.
- Recognizes the role of Clinical Educators in internship development and process improvement.
- Limited committee and special projects when appropriate.
- Acts as a role model for high-quality clinical skills.
- Implements the strategic plan of the department.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree required, MS preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited school for respiratory care recognized by NBRC.
- Three or more years of direct patient care in the type of clinical area assigned.
- One or more years as a Respiratory Educator or extended history of initiative in education projects/programs.
- Credentialed as an RRT.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider.
