Able to work independently to address complex issues, while being a reliable resource for others in the department. This role is key in ensuring seamless operations, from email inbox management to data entry into department systems.
Job Summary
This position primarily focuses on 5500 compliance filings and administrative tasks, including managing the department's shared email inbox, ensuring accurate data entry into our department software system, and supporting the 5500 compliance process. The role will involve communication with clients, managing deadlines, and ensuring accurate document tracking for 5500 filings.
Job Duties
- Manage the shared department inbox, ensuring timely and accurate responses to client inquiries.
- Review and process incoming 5500 data, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Coordinate with 5500 Compliance Specialists to communicate what is required for the next steps in the filing process.
- Prepare and/or audit government forms, including Form 5500, related Schedules, and Form 5558 Extensions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to 5500 filings and audit discrepancies.
- Send acknowledgment ID emails and complete local signatures as needed.
- Invoice completed services and prepare filings prior to delivery, as requested.
- Maintain and update service and delivery records in the Medcom Bridge tracking system.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training initiatives.
- Perform quality assurance checks on the work of others.
- Provide guidance on compliance and regulatory requirements related to 5500 filings and ERISA.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, supporting peers, clients, and plan sponsors with accurate, timely information.
- Align work with business goals, supporting the team's strategic direction.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable service products, policies, and procedures.
- Follow all Medcom policies as it relates to privacy and security.
- Work overtime as requested.
- Other related duties as assigned.
General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of ERISA compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and department-specific software (Medcom Bridge).
- Expertise in 5500 and 5558 government forms.
- In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations governing 5500 filings and ERISA plan requirements.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to share knowledge and expertise with colleagues and clients.
