Job Summary:
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with at least 2 years of experience in performing nasal swabs to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for specimen collection, ensuring proper handling and processing while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform nasopharyngeal and anterior nasal swabs for COVID-19, flu, and other respiratory infections.
- Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and handling according to established protocols.
- Educate patients on procedure expectations and provide post-collection guidance.
- Accurately document patient information and specimen details in medical records or laboratory tracking systems.
- Assist with patient triage, vital signs, and general clinical tasks as needed.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and laboratory personnel to support patient care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations for patient safety and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nasal swab specimen collection.
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols and PPE usage.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- BLS/CPR certification (preferred).
