What are the responsibilities and job description for the OR STERILE PROCESSING TECH position at MEDICAL WEST HOSPITAL AUTHORITY?
Under the supervision and/or direction of a Lead Tech, Charge Nurse or the OR Supervisor the instrument technician is responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas, and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
2. Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility./
3. Monitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical, and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers.
Requirements:
High School diploma or general education degree required; or completed up to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRST) strongly preferred. Must have moderate computer skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
