What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children's Department Supervisor position at Medina County District Library?
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:
This Medina County District Library is seeking a dynamic and innovative team-oriented supervisor to coordinate and direct the operation of the Children’s Department. Responsible for all department operations including planning, scheduling staff and programs, coordinating and implementing programs and policies, assisting in maintaining collection. Promotes the Library in the community and serves on system-wide teams and strategic plan committees. Supervises staff of six including interviewing, training, scheduling, coaching, and evaluating. Reports to Library Manager. Serves as in-charge person for the building as scheduled. The Supervisor also provides direct library services to the public performing reference, reader's advisory and programming for children and families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must possess an ALA accredited Master's Degree in Library Science; minimum of two years library experience; excellent communication skills; knowledge and skills in children's services, trends and programming; reference skills; high level of comfort with technology, social media and online resources; reader’s advisory and knowledge of children’s and tween literature; ability to handle multiple tasks. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
SALARY: Pay range is $21.64 - $32.46 per hour commensurate with experience, education and qualifications
