Job Description:
The Building Maintenance will have responsibility for general maintenance work and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and painting tasks. Work within established procedures and process under both verbal and written instructions. The hours of the position can vary but the main hours of work will be from 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are done under the supervision of a licensed engineer.)
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checks on building maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Cleans and inspects water heaters and boilers.
- May operate a computer, which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
- Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of emtals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.
- Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures as needed.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as needed.
- Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
Primary Requirements:
- Must be flexible and able to work as needed.
- Must have the ability to work in a face- paced environment.
- Must be able to work 40 hours or more a week.
- Must be able to work on ladders as needed.
- Must have knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades.
- Must have knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems, and other equipment systems.
- Must have knowledge of servicing and maintenance of simple power, heating, and cooling units.
- Must have the knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building and maintenance trades.
Essential Functions:
- Must be able to stand for 8-12 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
Preferred Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of technical training or 2 years of maintenance experience.
Required Experience:
- 1 year of building maintenance experience
