Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Manager oversees clinical areas, including Health and Wellness Center Services: Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Plastic Surgery, Women’s Health Breast Center, and Ambulatory Care departments. This role involves planning, directing, and providing supervision for assigned clinical areas while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Responsibilities also include budget oversight, mentoring staff, and implementing new programs to enhance patient care and the growth of the departments. The Clinical Nurse Manager plays an essential role in fostering a collaborative and effective clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Oversight and Management:
- Supervise clinical staff, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Oversee day-to-day activities and processes, ensuring that all clinical operations run smoothly.
- Ensure timely and accurate patient documentation and proper handling of patient records.
- Ensure nursing staff administer vaccines and injectables according to hospital policies.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality care and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and supervise a team of 30 nurses, fostering a professional, cooperative, and patient-focused environment.
- Conduct daily huddles and staff training to ensure staff competency and ongoing professional development.
- Assist with recruitment, orientation, and performance appraisals of nursing staff.
- Resolve staff issues and complaints, providing guidance and de-escalation as needed.
Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and implementing policies, workflows, and quality improvement processes.
- Utilize QA/QI recommendations to enhance patient care and departmental performance.
- Monitor clinical staff performance and ensure compliance with organizational protocols, quality standards, and regulatory mandates.
- Oversee central sterile processing and ensure policies are followed.
Patient Care Coordination:
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans based on patient needs.
- Promote a patient-centered care approach, advocating for the patients' best interests at all times.
- Monitor patient satisfaction, resolve patient and family concerns, and handle escalations professionally.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Assist with supply management to ensure the availability of necessary materials for patient care.
- Complete and follow up on all work orders related to clinical operations.
- Manage timekeeping responsibilities for staff, ensuring accurate documentation of hours worked and addressing overtime usage.
- Maintain open communication with leadership and department heads to ensure smooth operations across all departments.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work alongside senior leadership and department heads to implement solutions to clinical problems.
- Foster a collaborative, goal-oriented work environment that promotes open communication and effective teamwork.
- Communicate professionally with leadership, ensuring clear, accurate reporting of departmental activities.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing, with relevant clinical coursework.
- Licensure/Certification: Current New York State RN licensure.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
