The Legal Associate will receive and review information received from various sources i.e. attorneys, auto insurance carriers, the hospitals and practices, courts, record retrieval companies. In this role, you will:
Join a specialized team responsible for reviewing systems and implementing workflows within the revenue cycle. Each team focuses on a different aspect of the process. The liability/attorney representative team is tasked with reviewing and managing accounts represented by attorneys, third-party liability, and PIP/Med Pay. This includes negotiating settlements with attorneys and insurance representatives, as well as ensuring that billing and medical record requests are processed promptly.
The Bankruptcy team is responsible for verifying bankruptcy information using various websites and court systems. They also close and document systems according to established workflows, and request proof of claims when necessary. The team follows up on cases until they are discharged or dismissed.
The deceased patient team verifies date of death and estate information through various websites and court systems. They also close and document systems according to established workflows.
Lastly, our Admin support team provides assistance to all teams within the SBO Legal department by handling correspondence requests, creating and completing Affidavits, scanning correspondence and enclosures, and preparing monthly reports as assigned by management.
Each team plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our revenue cycle processes.

Proficient in reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, legal documents, and correspondence. Skilled in writing simple correspondence.

Requirements you must have for success:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be polite, courteous, and accommodating to ensure good customer service is provided.
- Knowledge of office software and medical billing software.
- Must have the ability to get along with others in a close office setting.
- Must have the ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing to function and cooperate as a member of a team.
Language Skills:
Ability to: read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos; write and present information to leadership, vendors, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Have the ability to compare rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret various graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to: deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; plan, organize, delegate, and prioritize work; provide clear and effective direction to staff; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with MedSrv departments, vendors, other businesses, and our clients; Must be able to multi-task.
