The Principal Communications Specialist will be responsible for researching, writing, designing, and producing multimedia content that advances our reputation as the worldwide leader in spine and cranial surgery. This high-impact, dynamic, and collaborative role will lead content strategy and craft compelling narratives to drive business initiatives, spark brand advocacy, and grow engagement with both internal and external audiences.
The ideal candidate for this role must have exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, be well-versed in content management and editorial calendar planning, and have a deep understanding of how content should be optimized across different internal and external communication channels including traditional and digital media. This role reports directly to the Director of Communications as part of the integrated team leading communications, digital marketing, and customer experience for CST.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned :
- Research, write, design, and produce engaging, multimedia content for a wide range of mediums including print, video, digital, social, marketing, and public relations.
- Directly manage communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's reputation to both internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop, manage, and execute an integrated editorial calendar.
- Leverage programs like Sharepoint, Eloqua, and graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to craft platform-specific content.
- Oversee and execute the writing, editing, and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, integrated marketing plans, press releases, interviews, FAQs, and other external and internal communications vehicles as defined.
- Evaluate the efficacy of communications in advancing business priorities and engaging stakeholders by analyzing data, summarizing insights, and adjusting approaches in real-time.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD) : $108,000.00 - $162,000.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification / education, market conditions, and location.
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20 hours per week : Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance / reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
