A Day in the Life
We are currently looking for a Design Technician III with electrical and electromagnetics experience for medical devices to join our Neuromodulation engineering team in Rice Creek, Minnesota.

As an Electrical Design Technician, you will work with a team of engineers and technicians to develop and bring new products to the market. The focus of this role will be to conduct electrical product development and test activities for active implantable medical devices such as Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation. The individual will support all phases of product development including definition, design, troubleshooting, characterization, and verification of implantable neurostimulators as well as external patient programmers and inductive rechargers. The individual will be an integral part of the R&D organization delivering the highest quality, life changing technology to our patients.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$65,600.00 - $98,400.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20 hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Support the definition, characterization, and verification of low-power analog and digital circuitry for Medtronic Neurological devices as part of the product development cycle
- Work with complex custom electronics and test equipment; define engineering test environment; provide schematics to build prototype test boards; design and build test fixtures; create and work with LabView/Python code
- Perform and support Product Development activities such as equipment qualification, non-product software validation, test method development and validation
- Develop protocols, collect data, perform basic data analysis, and prepare reports
- Work closely with other design teams (Electrical, Systems, Firmware and IC Design) to root cause design issues, create test suites, characterize, and ultimately verify electrical designs
- Design and execute test methods to characterize electrical designs and verify adherence to standards, product, and systems requirements
- Interface with certified test houses to verify/certify to global regulatory standards including ISO 14708-3, ISO/TS 10974, IEC 60601-2-33, etc.
- Work under minimal supervision
- Ensure understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
- Ability to work with others internationally and travel globally

- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Medical Device experience
- Electromagnetics and Radio Frequency design experience for Medical Devices
- Experience with verification and validation of class III medical devices
- Experience developing automated test benches
- Experience validating test scripts, methods and systems
- Experience designing analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBs
