SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on all mechanical, HVAC, carpentry, and plumbing systems for MCAD’s academic and student housing buildings. This position must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and the overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full-time, non-exempt position expected to work 40 hours a week. This position reports to the Director of Facilities and is paid $25-$30 hourly depending on experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot, maintain and perform basic repairs for HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Perform basic residential plumbing repairs.
- Clean and snake residential drains.
- Repair appliances.
- Perform basic carpentry repairs on laminate/carpet floors, doors, windows, and locks.
- Repair and paint walls.
- Perform basic residential electrical repairs as needed.
- Support with cost estimating for plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC services regarding outside contractors.
- Submit purchase requisitions for supplies and materials.
- Coordinate and maintain inventory.
- Acts as a substitute for absence and time off for members within the Facilities department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Scheduling availability to work after hours or weekends in emergencies and for key events, required.
- A valid driver's license, required.
- Four (4) years of building and general maintenance, required.
- Four (4) years of operating and maintaining HVAC/mechanical/plumbing systems, strongly preferred.
- A special Boilers license, preferred.
- Experience in a higher education environment, preferred.
- Strong mechanical problem-solving and technical aptitude, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across departments.
ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and reach with hands and arms.
