A Day in the Life
In this exciting role as a Supply Chain Planner, you will have responsibility for efficiently managing the overall supply and production requirements for Medtronic’s Surgical Innovation products. Primary responsibility will be ensuring product availability while meeting inventory targets and ensuring flawless launch of new products. This position leads and works in a collaborative environment with other business functions and will support the department’s strategic goals and objectives with limited direct supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and directs material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of raw and approved finished goods materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, inventory levels, and potential production or material supply disruptions to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided on-time and at an optimal cost.
- Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements.
- Monitors short- and long-term line capacity.
- Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, demand planning, etc.
- Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of inventory management tools.
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant Supply Chain, Planning or Forecasting experience, or an advanced degree with 0 years of relevant Supply Chain, Planning or Forecasting experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience employing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in supply chain activities, including using Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Excellent mathematics/analytics/statistical skills demonstrated through education or professional background.
- Experience with purchasing, forecasting and supplier management.
- Experience managing projects and working in teams.
- Experience with computer applications including Microsoft office.
- APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management).
- Six Sigma, Lean and DMAIC experience.
- Familiar with working in an ISO 13485 and FDA regulated environment.
- Strong communication skills (both verbally and in written) with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders.
