What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resort Maintenance Specialist position at Meeks Bay Resort?
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Specialist will provide maintenance support to Meeks Bay Resort, including but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, electrical and painting projects.
Duties: Work will be performed indoors and outdoors involving construction, repair, maintenance and modification. The Maintenance Specialist must be willing to work an on-call schedule.
Plumbing Maintain, repair and modify plumbing systems and fixtures. Install and repair water heaters, pipes and fittings, using threading and soldering skills. Responsible for pre-season water system activation and closing season deactivation at Meeks Bay Resort. Responsible for communicating with local Water Authorities to ensure standards and certifications are current and valid.
Carpentry Construct, maintain, repair and modify facilities, fixtures, furniture and woodwork, with seasonal focus on Meeks Bay Resort to support the Forest Service Permit. Collaborate with WDC Operations Manager and Forest Service Chief Engineer for Meeks Bay Resort Permit Holder maintenance and construction.
Electrical General electric work including wiring, fixtures, equipment, switches, relays and circuit breaker panels. Troubleshoot issues for equipment, generators and mechanical hardware, and make recommendations if electrical contractors are needed for more complex electrical work.
Development: Research opportunities to improve efficiency of existing systems and recommend new additions of systems to enhance facility operations with the goal of increasing income.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed indoors or outdoors with exposure to natural weather conditions along with dust and fumes associated with construction projects. Prolonged standing, walking and climbing in and around obscure sites, maybe on uneven surfaces in remote, steep, rugged, mountainous areas with unimproved dirt roads and trails.
Physical Demands: Rigorous work requiring heavy lifting, moving objects in and out of vehicles, weighing up to 80 pounds. Must have good visual acuity to see details at close range and at a distance, while climbing ladders and working in confined awkward spaces. Ability to read instructions and use power tools, complying with safety measures associated with the equipment. Required training to ensure compliance and ensure necessary certifications are current.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED plus four-year experience in two or more building trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must possess and maintain a valid California/Nevada drivers license
- (OR) obtain one within 30 days of employment
Must meet standards required for Insurance of company vehicles
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.
Must successfully meet standards for a background investigation.
Preference is to Qualified Native American Indians.
