The HR Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources functions at our seasonal cherry packing shed facility. This position is responsible for assisting with various HR tasks and ensuring the smooth operation of our workforce during our cherry packing season. The HR Assistant will work closely with the HR Manager and other team members to help maintain a productive work environment.
Responsibilities : Onboarding :
Assist in the onboarding process for seasonal workers, including collecting necessary documents and conducting orientation sessions.
Help new employees complete required paperwork and distribute necessary equipment and uniforms.
Timekeeping and Attendance :
Maintain accurate time and attendance records for all employees.
Address and resolve attendance-related issues in collaboration with supervisors.
HR Documentation :
Maintain employee files and ensure they are up-to-date and compliant with legal requirements.
Assist with data entry, record-keeping, and document filing.
Payroll Support :
Collaborate with the finance department to process payroll information and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
Assist in ensuring accurate and timely distribution of paychecks.
Employee Relations :
Act as a point of contact for employees to address basic HR-related inquiries.
Report any employee concerns or issues to the HR Manager.
Compliance :
Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Help coordinate and conduct necessary training sessions and safety briefings.
Recruitment Support :
Assist in the recruitment process by posting job listings, reviewing applications, and scheduling interviews.
Support HR Manager in coordinating seasonal staffing needs.
Health and Safety :
Collaborate with the safety team to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in managing workers' compensation and injury reporting.
Qualifications :
Previous experience in HR or administrative roles is preferred.
Basic knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
