The Vice President, Business Development and Sales Operations will lead MPI’s customer facing sales team in achieving MPI’s revenue and net margins goals. The position will focus on sales leadership, while working closely in partnership with the Chief Revenue Officer to develop and implement strategies to manage and optimize the performance of the MPI global sales organization. This position is responsible for leading the global sales team in a manner that achieves both individual and team goals for financial and margin performance and managing / creating a diverse range of appealing revenue options based on industry trends and those within the general media and advertising marketplace.
BUSINESS MANDATE
Develop and execute the MPI Strategic Sales Strategy in a manner that maximizes available sales resources to identify, develop and acquire revenue generating customers that will contribute a significant, sustained and diverse revenue stream to the organization with a profitable contribution, ensuring sales targets are met. Work in partnership with Chief Revenue Officer to develop and implement MPI’s global sales strategy. Deliver all current and emerging revenue assets in a successful and a robust way to the market through collaboration with the Chief Revenue Officer. This role will have a specific focus on ensuring MPI’s portfolio includes appealing and applicable media assets that follow suit with engagement trends. Represent the MPI brand in a compelling manner that will drive a positive buying experience and create long-term relationships with key partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Strategy Development : Direct and mentor the sales team by setting clear objectives aligned with the company's vision, developing sales strategies, including sales asset portfolio assessments, for revenue growth and market penetration, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. (25%)
Team Management and Development : Manage the sales team by providing training, setting sales targets, monitoring performance, and promoting a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. (20%)
Sales Operations and Performance Analysis : Oversee sales operations, including forecasting and budgeting, leverage data analytics for sales performance insights, and analyze market trends for opportunities in product innovation and competitive advantage. (25%)
Client Relationship Management : Maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty by working closely with other departments for strategic alignment and acting as the primary contact for escalated customer issues. (15%)
Event Planning and Hosted Buyer Program Management : Strategize and execute event planning and hosted buyer programs, coordinate with cross-functional teams for logistics and marketing, and conduct post-event evaluations to improve future events and drive business growth. (15%)

EXPERIENCE
Seven or more years’ experience in hospitality, meeting, events, or association industry.
Seven or more years’ experience as a regional sales director for a worldwide hotel, manager of advertising, publications, and / or sponsorship sales with a focus on strategic account management.
Previous experience in advertising and / or media sales, preferred.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent; or five to seven years related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
