Duties: Ensures that the Early Learning Center (ELC) and RI Pre-K programs are safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate and inclusive programs for young children of all abilities and their families. Requires knowledge of RI State licensing through the Department of Human Services (DHS) and The RI Department or Education (RIDE). Experience with NAEYC and BrightStars accreditation process Required knowledge of the ITERS, ECERS and CLASS tools Oversees and ensures that the Early Learning Center and Rhode Island Pre-Kindergarten have a high-quality curriculum that follows developmentally appropriate practice, the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards and meets the individual needs of children with all abilities. Demonstrates culturally informed practice and behavior management and discipline practices with the ability to neutralize the pattern of inequitable discipline of children of color. Collaborates with Early Intervention, Child Outreach and Special Education Teams from partnering districts and RIDE. Develops, facilitates and implements strategic initiatives in accordance with the agency’s strategic plan. Ability to lead professional development trainings for staff. Provides supervision for staff allowing opportunities to explore challenging issues and increase their understandings of different perspectives and challenges our students and families face.
