Position Summary :
The Dispatcher is responsible for the scheduling and assignment of drivers to loads based on customer requirements and per Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Also responsible for ensuring rental and MEI owned equipment and tools are assigned to crew per job requirements and scheduled for maintenance.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
- Plan, coordinate and scheduledrivers and equipment to each job including travel, load time and non-job related projects and tasks.
- Manage paperwork related to daily driver loads and responsibilities.
- Assign and dispatch drivers every morning to job sites and yard projects based on customer and MEI requirements ensuring employees are assigned to job / projects in accordance with their skill set.
- Dispatch / assign equipment (MEI and rentals) and tools to drivers per job requirements including scheduling of equipment repairs. Completion of all paperwork related to equipment maintenance, issues and repairs including the ordering of permits.
- Prepare, organize and distribute all required paperwork to appropriate groups (crew, accounting, operations management) related to the job, change orders, assignment of drivers crew and equipment, safety, JHA’s (job hazard analysis) and equipment repairs & inspections.
- Perform data entry into software applicationsfor labor and equipment.
- Review and track hours of service for drivers.
- Update dispatch job board daily by adding and cancelling pending and confirmed jobs.
- Coordinate, track and schedule drop off and pick up of all equipment and rentals related to jobs, including equipment from other MRC locations.
- Provide direct supervision of drivers to ensure performance, safety and MEI standards are being met.
- Communicate daily with dispatch team job foreman and drivers for efficiency of scheduling and dispatch.
