POSITION SUMMARY
MELE Associates is looking to add a Security Specialist to our team in Albuquerque, NM. This individual will perform a wide range of day-to-day security functions in all Safeguards and Security (S&S) areas. They will have comprehensive knowledge of and experience with security principles and disciplines (Physical Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, etc.); comprehensive knowledge of and experience with regulatory requirements/guidelines and compliance issues related to Department of Energy (DOE) security requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in developing documentation, policies and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures to ensure security requirements are met
- Ensure that the program tasks are accomplished on time and with the requisite level of qualitY
- Experience with classified matter protection and control (CMPC) and a strong background in security program management. Operating, accessing, securing, and maintaining a classified matter control facility following all DOE directives and federal regulations
- Assist in creating Security Awareness Training and Education
- Assist in preparing and review security plans, inspections, audits, self-assessments, and other work activities related to S&S
- Support the PHYSEC Program management activities to update PHYSEC policies and procedures by performing the following tasks: Inspections, Inspection Reporting, Space Accreditations, Intrusion Detection Systems, Badging, and Access Control
- Assist with preparation of Construction Security Plans (CSP), Pre-Construction Plans, Fixed Facility Checklist & TEMPEST requirements. Conduct periodic Physical Security inspections for the duration of projects to ensure compliance, construction design, and security standards
- Apply knowledge of operations of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Automated Entry Control Systems (AECS)
- Performs physical security work to inspect, analyze and evaluate physical security systems and measures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire and must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field and 3 years experience.
- Experience in administering and implementing security requirements in physical, technical, information, personnel security; including analyzing and interpreting policies, or directives, writing and reviewing security plans, and identifying and conducting assessments, audits, and inspections.
- Experience reviewing, evaluating, and assisting with the development of implementation plans for DOE and/or ICD physical security orders, manuals and other directives relating to physical security.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal security regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced knowledge of DOE Orders governing a variety of safeguards and security disciplines and security policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in managing security systems such as CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the latest security technologies and trends.
LOCATION: This is a full-time onsite position in Albuquerque, NM.
SALARY: Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
