Description

CULTURE:

Performs food preparation tasks as assigned by the supervisor cooks for hospital patients and personnel and visitors.  Is responsible for maintaining high standards and is responsible for appropriate quantities of foods prepared to meet menu requirements and performing duties as listed and assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Performs a variety of tasks, such as sweeping and mopping floors and keeping refrigerators and storeroom clean and in neat order. 
• Must clean ranges, kettles, carts, pots and pans and other food service equipment and be responsible for cleanliness of the work area and the sanitary handling of the food and supplies.
•  Sets up trays following posted and select menus. 
• May place appropriate food on general and modified diet trays.  May deliver loaded food carts to the patient area.

        PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS/ ENVIRONMENT:

• Physical: Walking, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and climbing stairs.  Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary and sedentary-light work.
• Mental Demands: Reading, writing, critical thinking, problem solving, people and conflict resolution skills.
• Environment: Work is performed in a clinic environment with frequent interruptions/contacts with customers.

*This position will learn both morning and afternoon shifts (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) and be expected to work both, as well as being able to work on weekends.*

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

       MINIMUM:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Have some knowledge and ability in handling equipment and simple food preparation tasks.
• Have high standards of food service, and high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and neatness.

       PREFERRED:

• ServSafe is required; can be obtained upon hire. 
• Experience in food service is preferred, but not required.

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
