Refresh Project Designer Design

Position Overview

The Refresh Project Designer designs and sells remodel projects.  This involves drafting plans, laying out cabinets, and specifying finishes and architectural details of high-end remodels as part of the Melton Refresh team.  The Refresh Project Designer is responsible for signing design and construction agreements with clients for projects. This position helps clients make product selections such as plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, tiles, countertops, cabinets, carpet, and paint colors on small to medium sized jobs that do not require building permits or have structural/engineering needs.  This position frequently meets clients to understand their requirements and bring them to a beautiful, functional, and cost-effective fruition.

Essential Functions

·      Collaborates with clients to understand and bring their vision, goals, and project requirements to life.

·      Adheres to the client’s budget, presenting at least one design option that aligns with financial constraints.

·      Designs functional and efficient floor plans tailored to the unique needs of each interior space.

·      Conducts in-depth research on fixtures and finishes, selecting the most suitable options within the designated budget.

·      Develops multiple design proposals following the initial client consultation.

·      Compiles and maintains a detailed product selection list to support each client’s remodeling project.

·      Solicits quotes for key finish materials, including countertops, shower glass, tile, and fixtures.

·      Oversees the rendering process, collaborating with both internal and external resources to ensure accurate visual representations of the design.

·      Delivers projects on time, ensuring all commitments and deadlines are met as promised to clients.

·      Conducts on-site observations periodically during construction to ensure design integrity and quality standards.

·      Creates as-built drawings, spatial layouts, floor plans, and other essential construction documents.

·         Provides ongoing support and assistance to the Production Team once the project transitions into the production phase.

Skills & Knowledge

·      The ability to visualize concepts and explain them to clients and the estimating and production teams.

·      Skillful in qualifying sales leads / prospects.

·      Able to articulate to clients the value of working with Melton Design Build and sell them design and construction agreements.

·      Create cabinets plans and place accurate cabinetry orders based on those plans.

·      Draft as-builts and construction plans (demo, mechanical, framing etc.)

·      Highly organized and able to juggle multiple projects, leads and production requests. This requires effective time management skills.

·      Knowledge about finishes and fixtures – flooring, cabinets, countertops, tile, etc.

·      Exceptional presentation and communication skills.

·      Ability to track and balance design selections in line with budget expectations.

Education & Experience

·      Degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture or equivalent years of experience.

·      2 years of experience with CAD/BIM (floor plans, interior elevations, cabinets, finish schedules, etc.)

·      Experience with design development and general interior design, i.e. finishes selection and specification.

·      Experience and skill creating construction drawings and 3D renderings.

·      Proficient with 20/20, Chief Architect, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe In-Design, and/or Photoshop.

·      3 years of experience with space planning, schematic design, design development, and construction document drawings.

Physical Requirements

·   Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

·   Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

·   Must be able to travel and navigate to client sites.

·   Must be able to work safely at client sites in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.

·   Must be able to distinguish colors and shapes to design.
