Description
The Shipping Coordinator uses a diverse skillset to ensure shipping runs smoothly. Their responsibilities include arranging shipments, assisting in loading, completing and maintaining complex and detail driven documentation, overseeing facility maintenance, and training others to safely operate tools and machinery such as forklifts and material handling equipment used in our facility.
Work Performed Includes:
- Work closely with each of the operating divisions to execute processes and procedures to effectively move resources, including machinery/equipment, tooling, and parts.
- Arrange and execute domestic and international shipments in compliance with import and export laws and regulations, customer requirements, and internal requirements.
- Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, customer requirements, and other records to verify accuracy, determine priorities and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Keep and maintain records of incoming and outgoing shipments, shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments, as well as recommend and implement necessary changes to improve and expedite processes.
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of building infrastructure and facility systems.
- Ensure preventative measures satisfy safety standards.
- Inspect material handling equipment for defects and maintenance needs. Repair as necessary or contact outside service facility for repairs as appropriate.
- Identify maintenance concerns and perform system and facility upkeep
- Train employees on topics such as maintenance procedures, facility preventative maintenance, ladder safety, forklift certification and other topics as directed.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Rules and Regulations for International, Federal, State and Local Shipping Policies
- Effective communication skills, confidence in speaking with vendors and customers to arrange shipments and coordinating facility maintenance
- Computer Skills and experience with ERP Systems
- Lead, coordinate, and assist in large equipment tear downs to prepare for shipment
- Experience in using equipment to unload crates and skids from trucks
- Knowledge of Block & Tackle for tearing down and packaging equipment for safe shipment
- Plan and schedule the appropriate carrier equipment and dunnage for safe product transport
- Flexibility with work hours to coordinate and oversee aggressive Shipping and Receiving plans
- Excellent Organizational Skills with the Ability to Multi-task
- Proactive pursuit of continued education to stay current with Shipping and Facility Coordination duties
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team to provide support as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Practical knowledge and experience in Continuous Improvement
- Advanced writing skills for documenting processes and procedures
- Facility maintenance background
- Electrical and/or Mechanical Knowledge
- Advanced ERP Skills
Will Develop Skills Including:
- Safety Knowledge and Training for development and administration of Safety Certifications and Procedures for Material Handling Equipment
- Technical writing skills and photography expertise for “As-Shipped” documentation process
- Large equipment rigging for loading and unloading trucks
