What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Dispatch position at Melton Truck Lines?
This position will provide Melton drivers with detailed instructions as it relates to southbound loads and will accurately process the load for its dispatch into Mexico. Formulating instructions to drivers depends on working closely with other Laredo Ops members to determine the day’s business needs that will ultimately provide superior service and high profitability.
The shift for this role is Friday-Monday 7am-6pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following.
- Review Bill of Lading, provide Melton driver with careful detail instructions on the southbound load and update system accordingly.
- Open lines of communication that would facilitate information to customers, forwarders, Mexican carriers and appropriate Melton stake holders of respective accounts.
- Process transfers solicitations and schedule delivery appointments of inbound loads. Follow up with Mx carriers and make sure loads status is transmitted to customers.
- Confirm carrier availability considering customer request and requirements. Make changes or take actions in cases needed to fulfill operations needs.
- Update Mexican Trailer session daily based on operation processes.
- Creating/Updating reports based on customer or operation needs.
- Monitor and update daily report of freight crossing into Mexico for record and follow up.
- Maintain daily communication with Mexican Carriers. Via e-mail, What’s app or telephone to know our trailer’s status.
Shift: 7:00 AM -6:00 PM Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with a one-hour lunch period.
Qualification Requirements: as follows:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma, speak and write Spanish/English; Two or more years of customer service experience and ability to make decision quickly and effectively. Transportation experience preferred.
Special Training: Needs to be familiar with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and Innovative AS400 System.
Special Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly, handle stressful situations and pay close attention to detail. Needs engaging outgoing personality with the ability to critique performance. Must also be able to work and perform as a team player.
