What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Processing Technician Per Diem, Monday-Friday, ASC position at Melville Surgery Center?
Currently seeking an experienced Certified Central Sterile Technician for a Per Diem, Monday-Friday, varied hours position. Shift start time would typically be 730am or 8am. No weekends or holidays. Must have CRCST certification.
We are a multi-specialty, fast paced ambulatory surgery center located just south of the LIE off of Route 110 in Melville. Our specialties include orthopedics, ENT, ocular plastics, general, GYN, cataracts and pain management.
Your responsibilities will include
- to process, assemble and inspect reusable instrumentation while following decontamination and disinfection protocols.
- To retrieve the trays, instruments and equipment; then disassemble/decontaminate instruments and equipment for processing.
- To operate the washer unit, autoclaves, ultrasonic machine and any other machinery/equipment as needed.
- Decontaminate reusable instruments and equipment from a variety of surgical specialties used for patient care.
- Provide guidance to staff for surgical instrumentation.
- Disassembles and decontaminates instruments and equipment for sterile processing.
- Ensures instrumentation is clean, functional and in good repair.
- Package supplies according to specifications and appropriate method of sterilization.
- Assists with preventative maintenance on all instruments and patient care equipment following established AORN, AAAHC and AAMI quality control standards.
- Ensures trays and sets are properly covered (dust covers) and rotated to ensure adherence to sterility guidelines.
- Adheres to accurate instrument count sheet for all surgical trays. Informs supervisor of any discrepancies.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
CRCST Certification required
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a surgical instrument processing setting, required.
Experience in ambulatory surgery center preferred
Knowledge of instrumentation and sterile supplies, operating room or central service experience
