This position is located in Upper Marlboro, MD. The core working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Night and weekend hours as required. This is a full time position offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. This position may require use of your personal vehicle occasionally. Melwood transportation policies must be followed. Liability insurance on your personal vehicle must be in full force and effect while transporting for or on the behalf of Melwood. Melwood will reimburse for mileage pursuant to the Travel policy. This position requires that the employee must successfully complete criminal history information background check and drug screening and be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
INTRODUCTION
Under the direction of the IT services lead, the Field Support Technician will oversee the technology aspect over designated Melwood sites. The IT Specialist will work with support staff and be responsible for the day to day operation of Melwood’s Voice, Video and Data Network. This will include onsite responsibilities, scheduling and control activities involved in the everyday operation of services pertaining to the Information Technology department, or programs administered by the division and other related duties as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate day-to-day activities with the IT services lead and Help Desk.
- Maintain availability during non-business hours in the event of an emergency.
- Troubleshoot Melwood’s telephone system.
- Plan and document all work as it relates to Melwood’s Voice, Video and Data Network.
- Manage overall operations related to technology and is responsible for its day-to-day activities.
- Coordinate technology activities with contracted consultants and constructors to expedite processes relevant to project requirements and schedules.
- Troubleshoot and repair PC, Printer and Telephone issues.
- Troubleshoot wide area networking and local area networking problems.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to sit 75% of the time; stand/walk 25% of the time; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 30 lbs.; must be able to speak, hear and see. QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience. 1 year of experience in troubleshooting and maintaining PC’s, laptops, and printers. Understanding fundamentals of Networking Technologies. Steller customer service and communication skills are a must. Familiarity with Microsoft products, Apple products, Cisco phone systems, and all end user devices including PC and MAC. Maintain a valid driver’s license. Obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
