Position Duties: Support member-facing events & meetings for the automotive aftermarket and original equipment suppliers.
1) Events & Meetings:
Prepare for events and meetings that connect members to what matters and drive the industry forward. Help execute successful events.
2) Event Materials, Registration & Data Support:
Assist with organizing event materials, analyzing registration data, and maintaining database accuracy through reporting, updates, and analysis to support efficient event operations.
3) Member Engagement:
Get a firsthand view into the people and companies behind the industry.
Candidate Responsibilities:
· Aid with events and meetings, including but not limited to layout & printing, organization & pre-event prep, day-of support.
· Assist with event set-up and teardown, including moving equipment and materials.
· Load/unload event supplies and transport items as needed.
· Provide registration support before, during and after the event.
· Assist with special projects including database cleanup activities, collection of demographic information, research, member & prospect correspondence, data, file & storage organization, etc.
· Demonstrate thorough understanding of office procedures, association activities, services, and policies, as well as staff responsibilities for services and activities
· Utilize various technology platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook), Monday.com, Salesforce, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Conferences i/o, Linktree, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, CVENT and Alchemer as requested.
· Own projects from beginning to end with attention to detail, managing goals and objectives to achieve desired outcome
· General clerical assistance as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
PC literate and proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred. Good command of the English language (including spelling, grammar, and punctuation), strong customer service and interpersonal skills required.
A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for transporting event materials to various locations is preferred.
Attention to detail, excellent organization, and solid communication skills. Self-starter with the ability to take ownership of tasks and follow through to completion with minimum supervision.
Excellent time management abilities; strong work ethic and passion for service to members.
Ability to lift and carry boxes and push/pull carts, as well as stand, walk, bend, kneel and reach for extended periods of time. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that may require frequent movement and manual labor.
Duration of Position: March 2025 – December 2025. For the right candidate, position could extend into 2026 and beyond.
Hours & Work Schedule: This is a part-time position with no benefits, averaging 12 hours per week. The anticipated schedule is three days per week, approximately four hours per day, though hours may vary based on event needs.
Some events may require extended hours at the Southfield office or other venues within the Detroit area. While the 12-hour weekly average will be maintained, some days may require more hours and others less. No overnight travel is required.
Flexibility may be accommodated as long as responsibilities are met. If an event conflicts with existing commitments, accommodations can be discussed in advance. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule to align with the MEMA events calendar.
Position Logistics: This position does not include stipends for housing or transportation. MEMA will reimburse any necessary travel to event venues within the Detroit area beyond the regular commute. A shared computer will be available in the office as needed. This is an in-person role requiring hands-on event support in and around Southfield, MI office.
